What is Leukemia?

There are 4 major categories of leukemia, based on the type of cell affected, and the rate at which the disease progresses.  The acute forms of leukemia progress rapidly, affecting cells that are unformed or that have not fully developed.  The chronic forms of leukemia progress more slowly, allowing the growth of a greater number of more developed cells.  Click on the links below for more general information or more specific information about each of the major types of Leukemia.
